Ultimatum to Muda No 2: 'Join Amanah or vacate Puteri Wangsa seat'

Muda's sole representative in the Johor state legislative assembly Amira Aisya Abd Aziz has been given an ultimatum by Johor Pakatan Harapan deputy chairperson Aminholhuda Hassan to either join Amanah or vacate her Puteri Wangsa seat that belonged to Amanah.

"She should remember that the seat was given by Amanah with courtesy to Muda, in last year's Johor state election.

"So she has two choices - quit Muda and join Amanah, or return the state seat to Amanah and quit from her (assemblyperson) position. That would be the most dignified thing to do," Aminolhuda, who is also Johor’s Amanah chairperson, was quoted telling Harian Metro.

Aminolhuda's statement comes following the announcement by Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman earlier this week about quitting the government bloc in Parliament, to become a "third force".

'Remember how you won'

Elaborating, Aminolhuda said that the Muar MP's announcement was akin to one forgetting his roots.

"By right, they (Syed Saddiq and Amira) should have considered the fact that their seats were given to Muda due to the electoral pact Harapan had with Muda."

He recalled that Harapan (DAP and Amanah in particular) agreed to let Muda contest in six of their seats in the Johor state polls, namely Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap, Puteri Wangsa, and Bukit Permai.

"The Muda leadership should learn history, instead of hastily making populist decisions. Remember how they won the Puteri Wangsa state seat to begin with.

"Harapan made way for them in the electoral pact, but now they (Muda) have betrayed us by withdrawing support for the coalition government," Aminolhuda rued.

Meanwhile, the Muda deputy president in a statement confirmed that her position has shifted to the opposition bloc in the Johor state assembly.

Nevertheless, Amira has pledged to serve her constituents and the state.
